Salary Pulse: Malaysia

Malaysia’s state of pay in 2026:

Satisfaction, fairness and how to talk about pay rises.

Salary plays a critical role in shaping employee satisfaction, motivation, and retention, yet it remains one of the most sensitive workplace topics. Drawing on findings from our latest Signature Insights research, the Salary Pulse Report examines how Malaysians feel about their pay, perceptions of pay fairness, and their experiences with salary reviews and pay increases.

Conducted by market research agency, Nature on behalf of Jobstreet by SEEK, this February 2026 online survey gathered responses from 1,010 employed Malaysians aged 18–64, nationally representative by age and gender.

81% of workers feel they’re being paid fairly for their current role but only 49% report being happy with their salary.
