Most Malaysian workers are happy at work. But look closer and the picture gets more complex. The Workplace Happiness Index: Malaysia reveals what's holding workplaces back, and what employers can do.
Conducted by Jobstreet by SEEK with independent agency Nature between October and November 2025, the study surveyed 1,000 individuals currently in the employment market, aged 18 to 64, and living in Malaysia.

When asked what would make them happier at work, most Malaysian workers (57%) said a higher salary. But when we unpack the actual drivers of workplace happiness, salary doesn't even make the top 5.
